Get the Most from Your Inpatient Treatment

On Expert Advice

Congratulations! You have taken the first step by agreeing to enter inpatient addiction treatment. This is a great step towards living a sober life. But everyone has a different experience once they set foot into a treatment center. And because not everyone is successful at staying sober outside of treatment, there are some things that we’ve found to be helpful for our clients during inpatient treatment to increase the probability of long-term sobriety.

One of Prominence Treatment Center’s inpatient facilities.

In some of our previous posts, we’ve gone over tips to prevent a drug relapse and what to do after you’ve left rehab. (Please review these if you have not; they’re very helpful.) If you’ve read any of our website’s information, a lot of it talks about how the Non 12-Step Rehab process can help you in various ways. Most importantly, it provides personalized care. But even with personalized care, your chances of sobriety are increased when you enter rehab with the right attitude, when you’re honest with yourself, and when you trust yourself to get treatment at your own pace.

Addiction treatment is all about taking small, forward-moving steps. You’re not going to recover and become sober in an afternoon. There will be ups and downs. But if you trust yourself and our treatment staff, a sober life will be yours. If you encounter any hard times during treatment, just remember these three tips and good things will happen.

It`s Time to Recover and Start Your New Chapter

Right Attitude

Perhaps the most important indicator to future success is your attitude about your treatment. If you go into treatment not 100 percent focused on sobriety, you’re going to have a long, uphill battle. This is a very important first step. Get yourself in the right mindset before entering addiction rehab.

Addiction treatment is not easy. Detox can be a difficult for some people and that’s just the first step. Then comes the months of inpatient rehab that tests your resolve. If you have the right attitude that you’re going to turn your life around, no matter what, you are going to be successful. We’ve seen it time and time again—clients who walk in our doors determined never to have to walk in again . . . don’t.

Be Honest with Yourself

One of the distinguishing factors of Prominence Treatment Center’s Non 12-Step Rehab program is understanding the underlying causes of addiction. We look to better understand you, your past, and what causes your addiction. This can be painful. There is a reason why we sometimes abuse substances; we seek to mask emotional pain. But we know this isn’t the healthy way to handle emotional pain.

Start Feeling Better Now

Being honest with yourself and your therapist will do wonders for your recovery. By opening up and really getting down the root of your addiction, you will truly open doors to long-term sobriety. If you’re not honest with yourself or your therapist, you both are wasting time treating fictitious problems. That helps no one. If you walk into a rehab center with the knowledge that you won’t be judged, it will help you let go of your fears and take a healthy step to sobriety.

Go at Your Own Pace

The great part of the Non 12-Step Rehab process is that treatment goes at your own pace. This is very important. Because we personalize our care to each individual’s needs, there is no rush because of someone else’s predetermined schedule.

Addiction treatment isn’t like your schooling experience. You aren’t rushed through steps because other people have picked it up quicker and it’s time to move on. Individual care means unique timing. Our goal isn’t to churn out clients on a timetable. Rather, we’re focused on helping clients find the right mix of treatments to help them become the person we know they can become.

There is no perfect formula for addiction treatment. But we at Prominence believe in our Non 12-Step Rehab process and in individual care. We have seen it work. If you enter treatment with a good attitude, be honest with yourself, and take your time, we are confident you will live a healthy, substance free life.
